Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican American journalist. She is currently an ESPN sportscaster. ESPN and is anchor for SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in the year 2016. She is a daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a TV reporter. Antonietta is a native bilingual. Since she was nine years old, Collins's capacity to communicate in two languages led to her obtaining a job in Miami as an assistant producer at Univision. The next position she was offered was an Sports Reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, the reporter relocated into Rio Grande Valley Texas where she was employed by KNVO TV 48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. The stories she covered were about the issue of immigration and trafficking drugs throughout Texas and Mexico. In addition, she was used occasionally as a weather and sports anchor. She then anchored and reported for Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She produced pieces about the Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Apart from that she was also the host and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She worked as the sports anchor of Despierta America Deportes morning show. She worked in the same job for Primer Impacto on UniMas Network, and Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta's parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November 1985. There is an older sister. The family settled in Miami after moving from Mexico to the US. In 1992, her parents separated then shortly thereafter in 1995 she got married again Fabio Fajardo who was naval engineer, who passed away in the year 2006 from kidney cancer. The time of summer when she was with her sister living in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had secured an employment. Antonietta who was in high school who had a vision of how she would like her life to be, visited Mount Union University to determine if the school suited her. In the end, she fell in love with the university. They also offered her a an academic major. Her studies were completed and she was accepted to the University for a master's degree studying media and communication studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the WRMU's 91.1FM station for which she worked for many years, became her friend. He was the one who boosted her confidence, and his passion for Journalism deeply touched her. In turn, she determined to meet his demands always delivering on time.
